Hi guys, I’m making a race track map and I’ve made some pine tree billboards inside actor BPs. I was wondering is there a way to paint them on the landscape using the foliage tool? I want dense coverage and billboards are perfect because of the low performance hit and there’s no need for tree meshes because the areas with trees will be unexplorable,
Here’s a workaround:
Use foliage tool to paint meshes and export it as a FBX, then import it again from Files-import into level. This brings each instances’s transform into the level. Then you can just replace each mesh actors with what ever actors you want.
This is a old thread, I’m not sure if 4.11 has import into level feature, anyways for those who would like to do same thing with newer Engines.
