Responsibilities

We are developing an open-world emergency services sandbox game and are looking for a skilled Technical Animator to build a high-quality, scalable locomotion system.

  • Design and implement a full-body locomotion system and test the viability of Motion Matching

  • Integrate and refine existing or new animation assets into a cohesive system

  • Create transition animations and blend poses to ensure smooth, realistic movement

  • Implement large variety of movement features.

  • Ensure animations adapt to different character weights and physicality

  • Work with Animation Blueprints, State Machines, and Motion Matching setups

  • Collaborate closely with gameplay systems to ensure responsiveness and realism

  • Optimize animation systems for performance and scalability in an open-world environment with complex AI and multiplayer.

Qualifications

  • Mid-level or Senior experience as a Technical Animator in Unreal Engine 5

  • Strong experience with:

    • Animation Blueprints

      • Motion Matching (highly preferred)

      • Locomotion systems

  • Experience with retargeting skeletons and animation assets

  • Solid understanding of:

    • Control Rig

      • IK systems (FABRIK, CCDIK, Full Body IK, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one 3D package:

    • Maya, Blender, or similar
  • Knowledge of procedural animation techniques

  • Understanding of networked animation systems (multiplayer considerations)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Good communication and ability to iterate quickly
