Spoof (www.spoof.app) is looking for an exceptionally talented 3D character artist that specializes in Unreal Engine. We are a U.S. venture backed startup (Lightspeed Venture Partners and Upfront Ventures) looking to add brilliant 3D creatives to our team. We are building a new product that requires photo-realistic 3D characters and scenes. We’re a small team based in Los Angeles and London who are looking for enthusiastic creatives who are highly collaborative to join our team.
Your tasks
- Developing photo-realistic 3D scenes, characters, and clothing to be rendered in Unreal Engine based on the creative direction of our content studio.
- Rigging, lighting, blending, etc. to make the scenes look as close to photo-realistic as possible.
- Partnering with us to design a pipeline and process that we can use with other character artists.
- Asking questions and understanding our goals to propose creative solutions instead of just reading from a brief and executing blindly.
Requirements
- 5 years experience as a 3D character artist, preferably working with humanoid-style characters. This includes all related functions (rigging, blending, lighting, etc.)
- Strong preference for photo-realistic outputs (i.e. not just cartoons or animated series)
- Professionally fluent English speaker
- Some experience with the Metahuman platform
- Experience with Marvelous Designer preferred
- Experience with Quixel Megascans and other 3D scanning solutions preferred
- In-depth knowledge of lighting, value, composition, color and attention to detail in environmental design
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work within memory and performance constraints while maintaining high visual quality
- Strong critical thinking skills and unafraid to try new things
