We’re Wolf Escape Games, creators of high-quality cinematic online escape games with environments built entirely in Unreal Engine. We’re currently seeking a skilled MetaHuman designer/animator to help populate our environments with subtle, lifelike background characters.
The Brief:
We’re working on a narrative mystery game set in 1901, and we want to add depth and realism to some of our still, tableau-like scenes. These characters won’t move or speak dramatically, they’ll simply perform a short, idle loop animation (e.g. reading a paper, playing piano) to make each scene feel more alive.
What We’re Looking For:
- MetaHumans with bespoke clothing and hair appropriate for early Edwardian England / Cairo (1901).
- Someone comfortable using MetaHuman Animator or Unreal’s control rig system to apply idle loop animations.
- Someone experienced with MetaHuman Creator + MetaHuman Animator + MetaTailor (or alternative workflows for custom period outfits) to create clothing and hair appropriate for early Edwardian England / Cairo (1901).
- First project would be 3-5 characters in a single scene/chapter, with potential for expanded collaboration on future chapters/games if the workflow is efficient and results are good.
Technical Workflow Notes:
This setup is all in Unreal Engine 5.6, and we’re currently exploring this character pipeline:
- Create the MetaHuman
- Use MetaTailor or Mesh-to-MetaHuman pipeline to adapt 1901-accurate costumes and hairstyles.
- Implement looping idle animation using MetaHuman Animator or sequencer-controlled skeletal animations.
- Integrate character into a static level scene via Sequencer as a background actor.
We’re happy to discuss what’s most efficient for you and support asset provision (e.g. base meshes or animation references).
