Project Title: Metropoliverse – Wheel of Science
Description:
I’m Oskar Krajewski, a London-based artist and founder of Metropoliverse.
We’re developing a futuristic digital city based on my physical artwork, Metropolis, constructed using over 40,000 reclaimed components.
I’m looking for a 3D artist experienced in mesh cleanup and Unreal Engine to help convert one of my scanned sculptural buildings into a usable game environment asset.
The building, Wheel of Science, has already been scanned and is available as a textured FBX file. The scan is relatively good quality, so I’m hoping this can be a straightforward first project.
Team Name: Metropoliverse
(UK)
Current Development: Working with an external game development studio on an initial proof of concept using Unreal Engine.
Talent Required: 3D Environment Artist / Technical Artist (1)
Responsibilities:
-
Inspect and clean the existing scanned FBX geometry.
-
Remove scanning artefacts and unnecessary mesh complexity.
-
Preserve the building’s original shapes, architectural details and textures.
-
Optimise the model for real-time use, considering Nanite where appropriate.
-
Import and configure the asset in Unreal Engine 5.8.
-
Deliver the cleaned source files, textures and Unreal-ready asset.
-
Briefly document the workflow so it can be repeated for other buildings.
Experience:
Knowledge of Blender, Maya or equivalent 3D software, together with experience preparing meshes for Unreal Engine.
Previous photogrammetry or scan-cleanup experience is desirable. Talented students and junior artists are welcome.
Compensation: Small paid contract, fixed price to be agreed after reviewing the scan. A modest budget is available.
Location: Remote, worldwide.
Potential Follow-up Work: Additional scanned buildings if the initial test is successful.
