(PAID, Contract, Remote - 8 weeks initial) Unreal 5 C++ Developer to help get our vertical slice to the publishers.

We’ve been busy on a challenging concept for over a year now and started to break the back of it. I’m looking for an experienced Unreal C++ engineer to join our team for 8 weeks to help get our vertical slice over the line. We do have publishers to present our VS too so if we do succeed, they’ll be plenty of opportunity to continue if the game/vibe of the studio suits you.

We are engineers ourselves, using new techniques and ECS to deliver mass unit type gameplay.

In terms of your experience, we need someone to be able to work autonomously, not need tons of game design documentation (we prefer open chats and discussions and bite-size workloads), work in a more small group/agile mentality, see what’s in front of us and pivot if needed. Ideally you should have many years experience, high quality code, understand testing and a passion that can attach itself to an interesting project.

Is this for a specific role AI? Gameplay? or more a generalist role ?

Hello Jimmy - all of the above ^^

We have some AI work to do with the colonist ordering, them autonomously fighting, manning turrets etc. We have a code base for the wave generation and ECS architecture up and running but we’ll be tweaking/adding to that - so there’s some more creative technical challenges there.

Using the GAS system in c++ for abilities, so more things there. We also have other ‘glue’ like tasks for getting animations hooked up, asset manager pre-loading assets etc.

A good generalist who likes working with a mostly pure c++ unreal project. We avoid BPs where possible.
