Project Brief: Interactive 3D Architectural Model in Unreal Engine
Project Overview: We are looking for an Unreal Engine developer to create an interactive 3D architectural model of an industrial site in Wallonia, Belgium. The project site spans approximately 40 hectares and consists of seven large plots designated for warehouse construction and one additional plot containing the remains of an old steel factory that will be preserved. The terrain has significant elevation changes, with height differences of up to 15-20 meters between plots. The site is adjacent to a large river.
The purpose of this interactive model is to demonstrate the potential configurations of the site to our client.
Core Functionalities:
- Camera System:
- Birds-eye view with locked angles, height, and distance constraints to ensure optimal visibility and prevent user errors.
- Grid-Based Block Placement:
- Users can place predefined warehouse blocks on designated grid areas.
- Blocks snap to the grid and cannot overlap or be stacked.
- Only predefined locations can be used for placement.
- Preset System:
- Users can load predefined site configurations for the entire project or individual plots.
- Configurations can be saved per plot with client-specific names.
- Touchscreen-Based Interaction:
- Users can place blocks and manipulate the view using touchscreen inputs (pan, zoom, orbit around a point).
- Idle Mode:
- When not in use, the model will display a predefined configuration.
- The camera will automatically rotate around the site.
- Users can manually trigger idle mode.
Optional Features:
- Data Display UI:
- Display the amount of land used per plot.
- Count and categorize placed blocks.
- Calculate total square/cubic meters occupied.
Technical Requirements:
- The output must be a standalone executable for Windows 11.
- The system should run on an RTX 2080Ti or RTX 3080Ti GPU, connected to a 4K touchscreen.
- The 3D model will be built in 3ds Max.
- The senior 3D artist responsible for the model has some experience with Unreal Engine but not extensive.
- We will provide:
- A 3D model of the site (estimated delivery: February 27th).
- Mockup visuals and UI designs for reference.
- Purchased Unreal Engine assets for grid-based placement and real-time strategy-style camera movement (to be discussed with the developer).
Timeline:
- Final Deliverable Deadline: March 3rd, 2025
- Testing & Fixes Period: March 3rd – March 5th, 2025
Budget & Feasibility:
- The developer should assess the feasibility of this timeline.
- We require an estimated cost for development.
- The developer must be able to provide an invoice.
- The developer should provide a portfolio or sufficient proof that he/she can handle this project.
