I’m getting cooking failures whenever I try to package a game for mobile that has terrain manually split between multiple levels with the world composition feature. The packaging succeeds on both Windows and Mac builds. The failure happens for both Android and iOS, and appears to be related to the ES2 terrain cooking. Tested on 4.4.1, on both Windows 8.1 and OS X 10.9, from a github build and the launcher version.
Repro steps:
- Create a new project. I used the first person blueprint template, with example content included, in my test.
- Delete all maps except for Example_Map, in preparation for world composition.
- Create a terrain in the map. I used 63x63 quads, 1x1 sections, and 8x8 components, which was the default for me. I set the terrain material to M_Ground_Grass.
- Build lighting and save the map.
- Package for Android (ATC), this should succeed as world composition is not used yet.
- Open world settings, enable world composition, and save the map.
- Open the levels window.
- Create a new level and activate it.
- Go into terrain Manage mode and select “Move Level” tool
- Move one or more components to the new second map.
- Change the height of the terrain a bit to avoid map check errors (a perfectly flat area will give an invalid level bounds)
- Build lighting and save all levels.
- Attempt to package for Android (ATC). This is failing.
The error is Cast of NULL to Package failed, and occurs in the call to GetOutermost on line 5005 of LandscapeEdit.cpp, called from GeneratePlatformPixelData (which is only called on mobile):
