Packaging Error: Can't find files

My game doesn’t want to compile. There are several errors but many of them don’t make sense. I’m not using a Git repository. Also the FirstPersonOverview isn’t being used either, why is it needed in order to package my game?

Deleting the Saved and Intermediate folders then repackaging seemed to do the trick.

Just tried deleting saved intermediate and config, restarted, I am still getting a heap of these errors, any other ideas?

I had this happen as well, I fixed it by deleting the hidden folder under User- > Appdata → Local → UnrealEngine. I kept the other ones there (UE4header, etc).

Also delete the saved and intermediate again as well inside your project folder.

Re-open the engine and it will revert back to opening like the first time (flashing green tutorial icon, reset UI, etc ) but it should fix this.

Thanks for the suggestion, it took a very long time to compile but then spit out 6000+ find errors up from 54…

wow that’s interesting, in UE4, go to File → Cook content for windows, under your project

Then let it just cook instead of packaging. are you getting 6000+ errors or warnings? there is a difference because the warnings will allow the cook to complete wheres the errors will not.

I’m not sure how organized your project is but i have noticed that in UE4 it is good habit to cook your project frequently to insure no new issues come up.

Is this project built natively inside UE4? Meaning have you ever updated this project to a newer version? If so I would start a new project natively and then migrate the old project data over to the new content folder and repeat my above comment and try re-cooking again.

I know these are not clear cut solutions but i have noticed that if you start projects but keep them clean throughout (cooking often, fixing any yellow output warnings, etc), it’s much easier then dealing with hundreds of issues when you are almost done. Best of luck.

Firstly, thanks @jimd667 your responses have been very helpful. I seem to be on a path to success. I created an empty blueprint project, and then migrated the content folder from the other project. I then cooked the windows files, and then packaged the project. Although I did get missing file errors in the cooking log the project built and ran. There was a few missing things from the original project, but I could if necessary reconfigure these. For now I am going to try some pre-cooking on the original files and see if that helps with the build process.

Possible Solution That Worked For Me :smiley:

  1. Close UE4

  2. Delete everything inside ‘Intermediate’ Folder

  3. Delete everything inside ‘Saved’ Folder

  4. Uninstall current UE4 Engine Version

  5. Reinstall UE4 Engine Version

  6. Recompile and do the Happy Dance :slight_smile:
