Overlap Being & End Events Triggering Simultaneously

I’ve been spending hours trying to figure out why my overlap events are happening at the same time. Maybe it has something to do with using a custom Pawn versus a character… But that shouldn’t break things this badly right?

This is my setup - zooming out should set the Billboard to Visible, zooming in should make it invisible and I’ll turn on the actual actor.


However when I hit play, both the Overlap Begin and End trigger at the beginning of gameplay and then never trigger again.

I don’t really have any thoughts on where to debug this any deeper. I don’t have Blocking set for any collisions…
