Outdated Hardware recommendations?

Hi all - I’ve gone through the Hardware Recommendations pages although both seem very outdated - or is this not the case? I’d like to link to these 2 pages but I’m not allowed to.

Can I still get myself an R5 3600 and a GTX 1060 *cough* and expect to develop relatively smooth in UE5? It sounds hard to believe..

I’m looking into this as I want to order a new workstation (desktop), mainly for general developtment in Unreal. Any feedback or ‘must haves’ are very welcome.

EDIT: FFS I can’t post links to threads on this same forum (-_-') when can I post links as a new user?

Where are you seeing this? I see

Ten or so Non Spam posts in.

No - and you are probably misunderstanding.
MOST USERS - of videogames seen via steam charts - had just a 1060 when a 3090 was out. So if you developed a game that required a 3090 to work no one could play it.

Development wise, not even the latest hardware money can buy is generally capable of getting the engine to function “smoothly”.
Get the most RAM you can, in dd3 or 5 depending on budget and stability. Get the best GFX you can afford in Nvidia flavor, and possibly water cooled for longevity’s sake.
Get the best CPU you can, I’m guessing ryzen is still faster than I9s.

And even then, because the engine is built by AI consorting with Edjits, you’ll get a crash every other minute, and probably more than a few BSODs (because epic loves to ignore basic things while making “new” stuff).
