orientation along xyz axis

For many cases it is necessary to orient a model vertically or along xy axis (e.g. buildings). Ground plane adjustment is tricky because it can’t be transferred from project to project or to another software.

So why not add a “define axis” functionality to “define distance” tool?

Not really, I think this one is quite distinct.

It is about a real re-orientation of the model, similar to “define distance”.

Your links are about transformations of direction, as far as I understood during export.

that is right, I just sometimes need to define a broader request category,

would you be interested in something like this for the axis definition? https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000776031-Axis-or-plane-constraints

Ah ok, I see.

The last link is indeed very close.

Although I was thinking more along the lines of manual rotation, like adjust groundplane, only permanent.

The point based way, as described in the linked thread, requires specially prepared or measured reference points, which would basically ground control points. Since I can do that with my theodolite, that’s not what I need.

I do however have cases where I don’t use the theodolite and for those the rotating would be the only option.

Thanks for following up on this though!
