Okay, I downloaded UE4 and everything was working, then one day I clicked something(have no idea what) accidentally. I didn’t notice right away but the selection outline was not showing in the perspective viewport. So I searched for help, found some helpful ones and altough they worked for others, I did the exact same steps as they did and still no solution. So far I’ve seen 1 person commenting about the solution not working, but no one came up with a solution to his and my problem ever since.
I have just reinstalled UE4 and The Epic Games Launcher and has still not worked with an old project neither with a newly made one.
The ‘solution’ to other people was to go into Edit>>Editor Preferences>>Viewports>>Look and Feel>> and tick the Üse Selection Otline’ and also change the Intensity to something above 0.
I am having the same issue.
Are you with an AMD video card?
I am with AMD and I read somewhere that this issue came with the new drivers. Currently the version of my driver is 17.4.2. Right now there is a workaround. At the bottom of the Edit>>Editor Preferences>>Viewports>>Look and Feel section there is and arrow (Show Advanced). There you will find a checkbox Highlight Selected Object With Brackets. This will replace the outline with brackets.
Hello again! I got around to reinstalling/reseting my PC. So I installed everething back as it was and it works now! First my view of the level wa squite glitchy, but I only had to turn the ‘’‘brackets’ thing off. Hope this helps you too
It says solved, but it looks like it was a workaround.
Try this as well:
Open “Editor Preferences”
Scroll to “Level Editor” - > “ViewPorts” → “Look and Feel”
Two options (Halfway down the menu section):
a) Make sure “Use Selection Outline” is checked
b) Right below it is “Selection Highlight Intensity”; 0.1 will give you a good outline, but you can adjust to your preference.
