Options to Select "What to download" while downloading Unreal Engine 5.6

Hi. In earlier versions of unreal engine 4 or 5, before 5.6, we got this “options” button while downloading unreal from epic launcher.

Here we can select what we want to download relating to the Version of Unreal Engine. Whether if I want to download the starter content or templates or not. Also, we can include or exclude whether we want support for other platforms like MacOS or Linux.

But in the latest version of Unreal i.e. 5.6, we don’t get this options button to select from. You can see in the image below. I still downloaded it though, because I wanted to have a look at how the new 5.6 looks.

But to my surprise, the size of the game engine crossed 110 GB of disk space on my pc. The default download of 5.6 downloads the entirety of Unreal Engine with all templates and support for other platforms. Please bring back the old “options” feature or else I can’t use 5.6 like this. My main project is inside 5.3. So I can’t remove it. Some of my assets need UE 4 and UE 5.1 to open, so I can’t remove them as well. I understand it may sound that it’s a personal issue but this is something that will benefit every developer who is struggling with disk size shortages. Please help…

You used to be able to configure it after the download. Has that gone too?

Hey @Jade2619!

Weird that you had to download the entire thing… Here’s my raw fresh installation of 5.6. You can edit the options post-installation, as @ClockworkOcean said!

Hope that solves it for ya!

■■■■ how are you getting that? I’m not getting the options button here even after downloading the entire UE 5.6.

Right Now I have uninstalled it. But the last time I checked, there wasn’t. I have to redownload UE 5.6 to check it again. I should wait a little longer until 5.6.1 releases. Maybe by then it gets fixed. The new features that have been added are new animation tools and the new metahuman editor. I can wait for now because these aren’t something that’s blocking my workflow RN.

What do you actually see? Screen snips could really go a long way towards us understanding what might be going on!

This was the snip you posted. You got that “options” button right?

I didn’t got that “options” button😭
Neither before installing nor after installing😭
I’ve already uninstalled UE5.6 so I have to redownload
the whole thing to check it again:sob::sob:

I’ll wait till 5.6.1 releases. If it still persists, I’ll make another post then…

I mean 5.6.1 isn’t likely to fix that.

Question though, are you on Mac? I have found some inconsistencies with the launcher regarding mac, as well as Metahuman and other features not existing on Mac.

Oh 5.6.1 won’t? That’s a bummer. BTW I’m on Windows PC, not Mac. I’ll download and give 5.6 another shot after some time.

Yeah, 5.6.1 is the engine version, not the launcher version, and this seems to be a launcher problems. Honestly, what I’m thinking is to uninstall and reinstall the launcher.
