Hi Twinmotion team,
First of all, thank you for the amazing updates in 2026.1. I use Twinmotion daily for architectural presentations, and I truly appreciate your hard work.
I am writing to request a feature regarding the Section Cube.
The Problem: In older versions (like 2025.2), when I cut a wall using the Section Cube, direct sunlight would pass through the cut opening, and the interior shadows would update in real-time. In 2026.1, the Section Cube only clips the visual geometry, but the lighting calculation remains based on the original uncut model. I understand this change was likely made to prevent blown-out lighting in floor-plan views, but it has completely broken my live presentation workflow.
My Use Case (Why this matters): During live Zoom meetings with clients, I do early-stage floor plan confirmations. Clients often make spontaneous requests like, “What if we move this window a bit to the left?” or “What if the window was bigger?” Previously, I could instantly use the Section Cube to simulate a new window opening and show them the real-time changes in natural sunlight and shadows. This “live simulation” without any prior preparation was my strongest weapon and always amazed my clients. Now, to show accurate lighting, I would need to prepare 3D models and Variant Sets in advance, which is impossible for unpredictable, on-the-fly requests during a live meeting.
Proposed Solution: Could you please add a simple toggle/checkbox in the Section Cube properties, such as “Affect Lighting” or “Clip Shadows”? This would give users the best of both worlds: those who want to keep accurate interior lighting for floor plans can leave it off, and those who need real-time sunlight simulation for live presentations can turn it on.
Currently, I have to stick with version 2025.2 just for this specific live workflow. I would love to be able to do this in the latest version!
Thank you for considering this request and listening to the community.
Best regards,
