I’m currently working on a survival game, while learning unreal (I’ve been using it a couple of months now) and I’ve found that a lot of what I’m writing is along the lines of what Tom uses in the survival game series Here.
Now I’ve always had the feeling that “If you didn’t write it, it’s stealing”.
But I’ve been told by others that “If someone wrote it better, why re-invent the wheel”
So I’m not sure whether I should potter on with what I’m doing, or branch Toms code, remove what’s not in keeping with my design and develop my idea from there.
I’ve never used someones code outwith a workplace (same company etc) so am I just being naive in thinking it’s bad form to build upon the base of Toms survival game?
Any and all advice welcome.
