Opening .uproject files

Hello!

I recently got a new computer, and wanted to open my old unreal files that I got from my old computer. Unfortunately, I can’t open my projects locally from the file explorer window. There’s no option to use UE. I thought maybe that the issue was because these projects were made on older versions of unreal, but I made a new project, saved it, and I can’t open that from the folder either.

I’ve found a workaround solution where I drag the project file over the UE desktop shortcut. It works, but it still doesn’t completely solve the issue. Even if I’ve opened them that way, the projects don’t show up in my project library in unreal, and I still can’t just double click from the file folder.

They also don’t have the UE icon that projects usually have,

Not really sure how to fix this. Please help!

In case of win10 it looks like:
RMB → open with ->another app → check “always use” → “look for another app” → select UnrealVersionSelector.exe from the EpicGameLauncher’s folder (Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UnrealVersionSelector.exe).

In case the UVS refusing to start (popup with invalid parameter error or smth like this), launch it once with option -fileassociations and admin rights.
