Opening console in standalone - followup

I’m aware that this question has been asked before, 4 years ago, but I have a question regarding the answer. I understand that the console is stripped when using the shipping build configuration, but I’m concerned that packaging a development build will include stuff I may not want to put out.

Being sort of a fan of Bethesda and Valve games, for example, as a power user, I can use ~ to bring up a console and tweak explicit settings. I’m looking to retain that feature when I put out a game, but without the clunkiness of an unoptimised debug build.
