I’m considering running unreal on a laptop I have, it’s older. It has a6 core i7 processor and quadro rtx 3000 gpu. I just thought I could ask. It’s all I have as far as something mobile. Thanks
So what is the question?
- can I run UE5 at all? -Yes.
- can I run it well enough? -Depends on what you want to do.
- can I take advantage of all the cutting edge stuff? -No.
This means little tbh. There are dozens of various i7s spanning across several generations. Both desktop and mobile. There are even laptops with desktop CPUs out here. Taking the gpu into account, you’re probably rocking a comet lake or ice lake - a threaded 4-8 core chip. Which is more than fine for basic stuff.
Mobile GPUs are generally underwhelming, run hot, and have a tendency to throttle the entire system. Don’t expect too much from it. But again, more than fine for basic stuff.
Thanks! I was considering something low poly for now.
I’m curious as to how basic. Also you pretty much answered all my questions, thanks!
If you disregard nanite and lumen, and avoid 4k texture on everything, you’ll be fine.
