I’m back to using Reality Capture after a few years’ break. I still have a dreadful project to finish, one I’ve been struggling with for years. It involves merging two photoshoots – two components (photographed from above and below) – into a single component.
My last resort is to use a mask to remove turntable noise. I’ve recently updated from 1.3 to RC 1.5.1, so I’m not yet using the AI mask technique. I have the two halves in two separate projects, and folders have been created for both masks, which I unfortunately have to save in separate folders. Unfortunately, my nightmare project has turned out to be a rubbish dataset and I cannot retake or add any photos. The individual projects are composed of randomly selected photos from various photo name folders. Unfortunately, I cannot place the photos used in the component into a separate folder. Hence various pathways to separate folders etc. That is why I cannot save my mask photos in the same photo folder. I use the photo input from a project’s component as a component export and input into a new folder. This way, I have all the photos directly in a component or point cloud. I also have the mask photos, which do have the same name as the original photos but are not located in the same folder (because the used photos mainly come from different folders).
With the import of the component into a new folder I have all the photos directly in a component or point cloud. I also have the mask photos, which have the same names as the photos but are not in the same folder. As a result, RC does not recognise the matches and adds the mask photos to the data input of the imported component. How can I link the mask photos to the corresponding photos in my component? I have read something about renaming folders or mask folder but I cannot wrap my head around it. I have so many defferent folders that I don’t know where to begin…
