OK, I know I’ve had a few complaints about spam uploads into the 3D category and I have pointed out that the category on the FAB store is almost unusable. But this isn’t about that. Now I just have questions. First, does ANYONE use this “style” of character in any of their projects? Who’s even buying these? I haven’t really seen it in any existing game. Second, this HAS to be AI generated, right? None of them are tagged as being generated with AI, but they all have the exact same style. And don’t take THAT the wrong way, I don’t care if AI is used so long as the job is getting done and if it doesn’t look like hot garbage. And they’re all being sold by different sellers. And look, to each their own. I’m no arbiter of what other users purchase. But now I have one final question. Maybe someone can enlighten me. I am guessing that we’re going to be plagued with these type of models for years to come. So that being said, what are these models even being generated in? For supposedly different people to all generate the same exact style of model, there has to be a starting point. Does anyone know what it even is?
As for what about this is feedback or a request, all I’d request is that this stuff gets either properly tagged or segregated to its own place. Or in the case of mass produced assets like this, I dunno, automatic deletion after 30 days if nobody buys it. Again, if you AI generated Cool Gun That Doesn’t Exist Number 5000, and it’s the ONLY one and it looks COOL? No problem. But the AI “generic cartoon style that doesn’t fit games or really ANYTHING” thing is really weirding me out.
Hi @TyrianOmen , thanks for the feedback! It’s greatly appreciated.
When you are searching for products on Fab, you can toggle on and off a filter to show AI content. You’ll want to open the hamburger icon in the top right. Then, toggle off “Show products created with AI”, matching the screenshot I’ve provided. Save, and you’re good to go!
Also, if you see any products you believe may have AI-Generated content, please use the Report button located at the bottom right of the product page, and then select “Generative AI use not declared”.
Huh, I seem to have not seen the bottom half of that post! I had a much longer reply I just deleted, but let me rework that.
I have had the filter ON since I’ve noticed it was a thing, and the issue is that sellers with no integrity will not declare their work which is either AI generated or horribly mass produced if it ISN’T AI is not generated with AI. And there’d be a small odd caveat with that, too! See, year or so ago, I had two wishlisted game mechanics (which are still up on the store) DID have integrity and say they used AI for the decals in their game mechanic. The decal is whatever, it’s the mechanic that was important. And I would have missed those entirely with the AI filter on. So that’s… the strangest edge case I have. I only discovered that because my wishlist numbers didn’t match up to 150. BUT. Since those two, I have had the switch off, so I don’t see product created with AI.
Or so I’d hope. But now you’ve shown me something interesting. Generative AI use not declared? Don’t get me wrong, if I had a good day or so off of work, I’d probably sit down and report each and every last character model like that until I’ve seen every last Psuedo-Pixar Dead Eyed AI Model taken down. But wouldn’t that compromise MY account or get me banned? I know there’s not much that we as buyers can do unless higher moderation comes from the top down, and buyers aren’t vigilantes. Most we can do is like, tell off-site sellers that there’s thieves posting their work on your storefront or something like that. Or are we allowed to report such things?
