I wish you all a happy new year… Glad to have this forum for help, tips and tricks!
As I simply found no time, this years “what a year” video was done within 7 hours, and no fancy “review of the year videos” in it…
Even the animal (this year a dog) hardly moves It is what it is.
You really want me to do a review of 2022? Show you more videos of war and crimes against humanity in Ukraine, Iran?
Do you want me to lament about inflation? Make some jokes about the britisch Tories, partying Boris and Liz Truss?
The US supreme court revoking women’s constitutional right to abortion? Heatwaves and droughts around the world?
Boring! And it makes me sad, as humanism still isn’t our global and main guideline.
So many resources, money, lives are wasted for silly and dogmatic egomaniacs.
Some good news though…
Victoria’s Secret features a model with Down syndrome. More Americans are smoking ■■■■■■■■■ than cigarettes.
The first person of color heads the British government. Ownership of a California Redwood Forest is being returned to Indigenous guardianship.
Scientists may have cured HIV in a woman for the first time. The world surpassed 1 terawatt of installed solar energy capacity.
The Mattel Company unveiled the Jane Goodall Barbie, the first in its inspiring Women Series, made with recycled ocean-bound plastics.
After nearly going extinct in the region, as many as 150 fin whales were seen feeding off the coast of Antarctica.
And after years of deadly conflict, Ethiopia’s civil war agreed to stop fighting.
The first nuclear fusion experiment, to achieve a net energy gain, has been carried out by scientists.
So there is still hope, though a long, long way to go.
Let’s hope that moron Putin dies of a heart attack and Russia leaves Ukraine.
Inflation, should come down after that. And if we all, praise humanism, the year 2023 could be a better one!
Happy New Year!

Hi @TOYSTORYLAB !
The view of the fireworks through the bedroom window was so nostalgic and wonderful! It always evokes the symbolism of a new year as we celebrate the end of the former.
Aesthetically, the bedroom is indicative of today’s modern society. Everything that the main character could ascertain about the world is readily available through the smart TV, laptop and cellphone. I see a trophy on the wall and a baseball bat, indicating that the character is not a recluse. We can also gain an understanding of the world by our social experiences with others.
The beauty I find in your cinematic short is how the UE platform gives us creative space to express our interpretations of society and the world around us - our own ideologic roadmap of the past, present, and future.
@TOYSTORYLAB , would you mind taking us on a journey through your mind on how you sifted through both the negative and positive aspects of last year’s world events to formulate your wrap-up POV? What shaped the narrative for OH DOG - what a year?
*side note: thank you so much for including the transcript of the speech!
Thanx, much appreciated!
In 2020 and 2021 I did a more elaborate new years video, with lots of movement, animated the animals (deer and squirrel) and had several videos of events of the responding year in it.
This year I simply had not much time, but I clearly wanted to do another OH …(animal), what a year!, so I searched on the web for most interesting things (negative and positive) happened in 2022. Made a selection and used “Replica” to generate my voice. As they also have a great plug-in for iClone I quickly could create lip-sync for my character. Found that room, dog and fireworks in my library (I usually buy interesting things on sales as sooner or later I might have a use for them) and started animating… I’m not so happy with the lighting, but as said, it was a quicky!
And thanx again for your ongoing interest in my work!
