Official position on html5 platform

Hi everyone,

I’m interested in Unreal for targeting html5. I seem to remember a few months ago that html5 was on the list of supported platforms, but now it seems to be missing in the features list on the main webpage. I also have heard that html5 export breaks all the time. I’ve searched the forums and it doesn’t seem to be discussed much either.

What is the ‘official’ position of EPIC on html5? Is it going to be a supported platform or just a toy ‘beta’ feature for the foreseeable future?

Are there any known rumors or other information on EPICs roadmap for html5? (Unity3d is obviously pushing it in version 5.)

Thanks!

Hi Jack. I posted in another thread about this just now. We absolutely intend on fully supporting HTML5 – it is on its journey to becoming a first class platform in UE4. The current version is workable if you are comfortable with compiling code yourself and dealing with some rough edges, though.

That’s great to hear! I can deal with the rough edges, just wanted to make sure it has a long term future.

Thanks for getting back to us!
