I just got a new , and I installed Windows via Bootcamp, so I tested using both OSes. I tested with scalability settings set to , and I hit “Auto” button to see what settings engine recommended. Strangely, it actually recommended higher settings in OSX (all High with 75% resolution scaling) even though performance there is far worse. I used settings it recommended for Windows on both OSes. Here are results of all four tests:

That’s interesting data - you are comparing our OpenGL 3.2-4.2 Shader Model 4 render path to D3D 11 Shader Model 5 render path, which is noticeably faster in some scenes. I’d be surprised if you found such a big difference comparing UE4 on OS X to UE4 under Windows using -opengl command-line switch to run with same OpenGL renderer.
synthetic benchmark we use to test GPU’s performance won’t work on OS X at present, so we provide some hardcoded settings for different groups of GPUs. Understandably that isn’t as good as having a working synthetic benchmark, but there are underlying driver problems that need to be resolved for that to work.
Okay, I tested again in Windows after opening engine with -opengl in command line. I also tested in D3D again to make sure nothing else changed to give inconsistent results, and I got same results as in my previous test. It looks like Windows in opengl is a little slower than in D3D, but still not as slow as in OS X.
