Object Units between Laser Scan and RC Mesh

Hi there,

I am currently following this tutorial

I exported my mesh from Reality Capture and imported into Polyworks to align with my laser scan data.

My Laser scan data was scanned using a Creaform Handy Scan 700, it should be very accurate, and I’ve checked the units are good.

When I import the Reality Capture model, it is much smaller. I have tried scaling by general amounts i.e (x 10, x100, x2.54) none of these seemed to get my models the same size.
I took the photos using my phone, Samsung S21.

Could I please have some help regarding the units Reality Capture?
I don’t think the issue is with the Laser Scan data since my aim is to combine the high accuracy of the Creaform with the beautiful colours from Reality Capture.

P.S I have also tried Cloud Compare as in the video, same issue.
Warm Regards,

Hi @Joshua4Z
The photogrammetry is in its basics without scale (scale less). So, if you are not using the coordinates or georeferenced data it is just in ordinary size.
RealityCapture uses meter as units for export. You can also use different units (https://dev.epicgames.com/community/learning/knowledge-base/LJbB/capturing-reality-set-your-own-global-or-local-coordinate-system?locale=de-de).
So it would be best to scale your model to a proper size in RealityCapture, then export it, align the laser scan model with photogrammetry model to be imported into RealityCapture and then texture the laser scan model.
