Object-Oriented BP Code Question

I am using an asset that I bought on the marketplace and it uses an anim bp. I have retargeted this to my own skeleton and just about everything works exactly as expected. Unfortunately, at certain points in the developers code he uses a function within other functions to cast the anim instance to the one that he is using. I can override this function but cannot, as expected, change the function signature so my character bp keeps looking for an anim bp that doesn’t exist in my anim bp. I do have access to the source bp but I’m reluctant to change the dev’s code. Does anyone know of a way to work around this. Any help would be great. Thanks.

clone it, make the hard changes, and test. If it works correctly, modify the source.
