Object on Spline Movement System that has physics. Is this possible?

Hey all!
I am still quite new to game dev. I want to make a custom movement system that moves objects alone in a spline but incorporates physics such as momentum. This is for a train game; ideally, when the player adds additional cars, it would significantly affect gameplay.

I’ve tried a few approaches but they all end up being glitchy.
