Hi, I’ve been trying my hand at unreal - not the easiest thing to use. I tried looking for someone willing to build a simple game idea - a simple online multiplayer football game with a left/ right mouse click kick, curve function. Had some trouble with that. One group asked for 6 to 12k which seem high. Even looked at course to learn unreal engine 5 and again problems.
What would be the cost of such a game? Is there a course you can recommend? Also I have other ideas, but I’m unsure I should even mention them here.
Welcome to the Unreal Engine Forums! It’s exciting to be working on your first game. I’m not sure what the price would be for hiring a designer to make it for you. I’d recommend shopping around a bit to get a lay of the land prior to hiring anyone, though.
However, if you’re interested in learning more about Unreal Engine and how to use it to build your own game, I have a couple of links that I think may be very helpful for you! This link(Unreal Engine 5 Documentation) is to our official documentation page where you can find anything from beginner tutorials to advanced guides, blueprints, etc. There’s a loads of information in there and the tutorials do a great job of walking you through the steps.
The second link(Your First Game In Unreal Engine 5) I’d recommend taking a look at has an a video tutorial embedded. It walks you through the basic scenario of creating your first game step by step. I hope that these pieces of documentation are helpful to you. We’re always happy to see new designers emerge!
I think it depends on where you are from and the country, but 6 to 12K is very reasonable. If you can showcase an image of a similar game I would probably be able to quote you a bit more closely to the final price.
You should start with something easy, and move up in difficulty as you grasp the new concepts as you go. Remember, a game dev team is upwards of hundreds of people doing different things. My suggestion is to look into Technical Art or Programming if you want to be a one man team doing everything yourself.
As for courses, basically YouTube and just clicking around until you learn the basics.
