Nudity in MetaHuman?

Hello Unreal,

Like everyone, I’m super excited to get my hands on the full MetaHuman release later this year.

I was wondering if it will have the option for nudity?

I’m inspired by games like Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, Witcher 3, and Cyberpunk. These games have nudity, and some have sex, that fits their narrative and the message they’re conveying.

Being a solo developer and having few resources, it’s my hope that I’ll be able to bring characters to life with an option of incorporating nudity. I understand it may be an almost ethical quandary for Epic, but it seems like it should be an option in today’s world. Maybe put behind a “18+ border”.

Getting the model naked by modifying textures isn’t too hard, but they will be lacking certain extra details

There are bathing animations I want to use, and it looks ridiculous if the character is in the tub with her bra on.

If people weren’t so perverse, this wouldn’t be an issue, but here we are.

Epic, anyone out there to give us an official “no”?

we are 2023 and still pay for what_others_migh_do. It’s logic, we are a complex society, but at this point we should be able to make some more steps ahead for individuals. I really enjoy my sexuality, my sexual life and BECAUSE of that i did not fell into alcohool or drugs. Why not allowing me to define the tools for that? Hm.

I’ve made one. I am using metahumans for an adult game so… Naked and with all the “googs” is a must. I will release a video with a complete modified one soon.

hello i would like to know please, i am very new to unreal, from blender. working on a metahuman and would like to know three things

  1. how can you make collisions on the body parts , is that physics asset? chaos flesh ? if you know a tuto that would help me i would appreciate
  2. how can i lock the knees during an animation, when the character is bending the knee, i dont want the ik knees to go through the ground or move left right , how to do that in unreal please ?
  3. how hard is it to import blender animation to a metahuman ? last time ive tried it said , missing root or something

This is an emotional statement that is demonstratively untrue.

I would disagree, You folks there in america have thing i call “nipple phobia”.

It is funny how most people in Europe find cutting, shooting, blood of human in movies repulsive (more or less), but we are perfectly fine with light nudity. And then that is opposite for America, blood/cutting human is fine, but seeing a nipple slip is like national tragedy.

So I am dissapointed/confused why metahuman is so strict about making human.

I feel you, unfortunately I don’t have the best answers for you, but I have some.

  1. Officially, this is handled by physics asset for skeletal meshes, there are more or less no exceptions, however it’s possible to use shaders or softbody physics (not chaos flesh, chaos flesh is too expensive and also just plain bad, but you can try using chaos cloth for this) to make alternative collision interactions that are not or at least less reliant on physics asset. Some people have managed to achieve very impressive results in this direction (look at naughty sandbox for instance) but none of them have shared details on how to achieve it.
    Unreal also does have a per-poly collision featuer that is supposed to work with skeletal meshes but I have not seen any practical examples of it working, generally speaking it seems to just not work.

    Making the knee not clip through the ground is a matter of how you’re animating, you can use procedural animation to prevent it from happening but that stuff is somewhat complicated, you’ll probably have to pay for a good guide on it.
  3. Not much of an idea, I’m not a blender guy, but you would most likely have to do animation retargeting to make the animations compatible with the metahuman skeleton, unless those animations were made on/for the metahuman skeleton.

@fireblade185 wish you had uploaded that somewhere else than youtube, where you could see it iwhtout logigng in for adult content verification…

An alternative and fairly common approach instead of modifying metahumans to be nsfw ready is to take ready made nsfw models from daz3d and import them to unreal. It’s a bit of a process, but probably easier unless you’re an experienced 3D artist.
