Hello!
I wanted to work with my daughter on a shared project on UEFN but we run in to a problem - she can not connect to Revision control.
Everytime she tries to do that she receives error message (see below).
We have tried to restart UEFN, tried to log out and log in under “Project”. Tried even reinstalling UEFN. Nothing helps.
Looked in to other similar topics in forum but didn’t find anything helpful.
Maybe someone has an idea what could be the problem?
Hello @Kaasiic,
I have a couple of questions:
- Is your daughter a minor? Due to regulations some features within UEFN are inaccessible to minors.
- Are you both working on the same PC or are you working on separate PC’s?
- If you are working on separate PC’s, how did you transfer the project from your PC to her PC?
Hello @wouter,
- yes, my daughter is a minor. But does Revision control system is tied to users age?
- we are not yet working together on any projects. The idea was to work from separate PC’s.
And even if we ignore the aspect of working together on the same project fact remains, that Revision control isn’t working for her at all.
Hello @Kaasiic,
Thanks for the information. I’d like to investigate this further.
Could you zip and share all the Unreal Revision Control log files from your daughters’ PC?
They are located at c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\urc\logs
.
Hello @wouter,
I have log files from my daughters computer but as I’m a new user I can’t upload them directly here.
Via what service it would be acceptable that I share them?
I changed the permissions of your account and removed the new user restriction, I believe you should be able to upload and attach files on the forum now.
Thanks for looking at sharing the logs!
@Hourences thank you!
Here are the requested log files.

Hello @Kaasiic,
Thanks a lot for providing the logs. We’re still investigating the exact cause.
That being said however, I did notice that the UEFN Collaborating Documentation mentions that You cannot collaborate on UEFN projects with anyone under the age of 18. due to legal reasons. We think this might be related to your issue.
Hello @wouter ,
I yesterday tried to log in with my username on daughters computer and got the same result, same error messages and still was unable to connect to revision control even with my own user.
I’m aware of this restriction (and to be honest we are ready to cheat a little bit here because we are trying to do this only for educational and self-improvement purposes as this could be a great way for me to help her in this process ), but even if we forget about collaboration option problem still remains - even working solo on any project she can not connect to revision control. And even if that does not prevent her for working in UEFN this error could cause unnecessary inconveniences in future.
Hello @Kaasiic,
Rest assured she should be able to connect and we’re going to get this fixed.
Out of curiosity… if she logs in on your computer - what happens then?
@wouter hi!
Sry for this silence period - crazy and hot month behind us.
So I tried today different actions, different users on different computers.
On my laptop:
- for me everything is still forking as it should
- logged in with daughters Epic account and on my laptop revision control for her is working
Then I tried on daughters computer:
- Using her Windows user tried to log in UEFN with her and my users - same result - revision control is not available
- Then I created different Windows user which is not tied to any Microsoft account (thought mby that could be the problem as she has some restrictrions on her Microsoft account) but still the same result - revision control is not working not with hers not with my Epic account.
So at this point it seems that problem is computer itself, but… do you have any clue what could be the problem?
As I stated at the beginning reinstalling Epic Launcher and UEFN did not help.
Maybe there are some log files or registers that I need to delete manualy after uninstalling and before installing everything again?
Any help as always will be apreciated. Both of us have free upcomming month and a half, would be nice to make some games together also.
@Kaasiic Hello!
Could you share the log files of your daughters computer once more?
Also, could you check that the Windows date, time and timezone on your daughters computer match those of your laptop?
Hi @wouter !
So it seems the problem was with timezone.
I remember that when setting up Win 11 I had problems with this aspect on daugthers computer - Windows didn’t let me manualy change timezone and detected it incorrectly. Didn’t find any solutions at that time so I settled just for correct time.
Now I found a solution how you can change timezone using Command prompt so I went ahead and did it that way.
Booted up UEFN, started a new project and revision control immediately connected to servers.
Will try to work on our first project as soon as daughter gets back from summer camp and hopefully there won’t be any further surprises regarding this area.
Huge thanks for your help in resolving this problem!
P.S.
In any case I added newest log files if they somehow help.
