Not capable of downloading real engine 5

Hi There! I am trying to download engine 5 for the first time, but when I downoad it on my macbook and click on it, nothing happens. I have a Macbook pro with 1Max chip and Monterey driving system. Does anyone know what I could be the cause?

This topic has been moved from International to Getting Started & Setup.

When posting, please review the categories to ensure your topic is posted in the most relevant space. While I’m not personally experienced with downloading Unreal on a Mac, I’ve found these system requirements to double-check and make sure your system has the minimum specs. I’ve also moved this post over to the Getting Started category so hopefully, some more experienced forum members can help you to find a solution.

Good luck and happy developing in the meantime.

Hey @Bochare, welcome to the forums!

First and foremost, make sure you’re downloading 5.0, not 5.1. If you’re new you definitely want a solid build to learn with and 5.1 is still in testing phase, not entirely sure it runs on Mac yet. Your hardware sounds like it should be fine to run UE5 though so I don’t think it’s lack of power. Maybe triple-check your drivers, and verify your installation?

Give that stuff a shot and let us know how it goes!

Thank you very much! I will give it a try and check if the systems settings hold anything back.
I will let you know as soon as possible.

So I have a Macbook pro (14-inch 2021) macOS Monterey version 12.2.1 with an Apple M1 Max chip, 32 GB memory.
I downloaded an extra rider for unreal engine, but it is still not working unfortunately. Older versions aren’t running as well.

I saw on another thread that opening Unreal Engine by itself through the launcher THEN launching a project through that selector (NOT the launcher) worked when this was happening to them last May. Give that a shot maybe? I’ll keep looking.
