[NOT A BUG] Strange object created

In the image you can see a strange object created by the reconstruction. It wasn’t there in earlier attempts. How to avoid this? How do I take it away and close the resulting hole in the ground? You can have all my input images (2.6GB, 459 drone images) and my project file (8GB data in the folder).

Hi Pjotr,

which object are you talking about exactly? Either give us a  similar view from an earlier attempt or circle it…

In any case, if there is something that shouldn’t be there it can either be a severe misalignment somewhere (a few cameras are in a spot where they shouldn’t be at all) or if you used images from different times, the object is only on a few images and those weren’t aligned in the earlier attempts.

Here the area with the strange object, and how it looked after I deleted it. I didn’t manage to fix the big hole with the standard RC function for that (Close Holes), I guess it was too big. Any suggestions for that?

For sure I could have taken more pictures, but the battery of my drone was running out (II ordered a few new ones now). The lighting was so specific, that it wasn’t useful to return the next day for more pics. In itself not a concern, as this was on the outer edges of my desired area. But I’d rather have no objects created, than large, unwanted objects, as they look strange and cast shadows in my 3D visualisation program (Lumion).

Hi Pjotr,

sorry it took so long.

It’s quite possible that those were misaligned cameras. When the sparse point cloud is visible, you can mark the points of this area and then find the cameras responsible for those points. By that you might be able to identify the problem cameras…
