[NOT A BUG] 1.0.2.3008 - steam Single thread during reconstruction

I’m seeing quite a long period of low cpu usage in this version during the last third of the reconstruction phase.  I’m possibly just spoiled by the usual great performance of RC… but thought I would report it in case a bottle neck was accidentally introduced recently.

Thanks, Jennifer

looks like the length of time in single thread mode varies…

Ran it again and grabbed some screen shots with fully threaded and then as it dropped to single thread.  This time the single thread portion didn’t seem to take that long however (last time seemed like it sat in that mode for ages)

I think this is pretty normal.

I also thought I read about similar observations a couple of times here in the forum…

The different stages of the reconstruction have different requirements. Some use only the CPU, others use only the GPU and even others use both. So this is perfectly normal.

Hi Shadowtail - I wasn’t questioning that sometimes you have various capabilities to run parallel, Just rather pointing out the single thread portion of the workflow seems to be longer in this release.  Since RC is generally performance oriented, maybe good to know when the performance profile is changing.  In this case, it seems like the time in single thread may be situational (fast sometimes, longer others even on the same model) then even more reason to offer up a report.

Up from down under,  Jennifer
