Normal - UEFN/Creative - Derendering assets on a vertical axis

I remember that we were told that derendering and memory calculation does NOT happen on a vertical axis, then why are assets derendering when I move up and down? Is this unwanted behavior or the way the system works? If the latter, shouldn’t assets not derender in sync with memory calculation, otherwise they derender for no reason and is annoying for development too since we can’t control the derender distance and any background decoration will derender very easily.

Footage below is from Live Creative, but I am only bringing this up since we were told that memory calculation in UEFN as well only works on XY, not Z.

(excuse my horrible drawing)

Issues: We cannot make vistas with depth currently, using FN props (note, I haven’t used the HLOD workflow yet)

Suggested solutions:

  1. (on an asset level) the ability to set derender distance via an override setting from a prop/group details and that goes into memory calculation automatically.

  2. Derendering is synced with memory calculation (either make memory calculation work on a vertical axis, or make derendering not work on it).
