I could swear that I have seen something before about it, but not sure where. Are we able to upload content that is not our own, in terms of something like an IP.
For example:
creating a star wars model and putting it up as a free download rather than for sale?
Is there a specific license it should be under?
Yes (Mostly), if uploaded as 3D model. Fab Team will most probably approve it (Infact they have Approved 3D Cube in Past)
For Unreal 80% No.
But keep this in mind that Seller have Agreed on there Fab Distribution Agreement that,
SUBMISSION AND CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
a. All Necessary Rights. You will not provide any Submission Materials or Content to Epic or a Marketplace
Operator for which you do not have all necessary intellectual property, publicity, and other proprietary or third
party rights to grant all of the licenses described in this Agreement.
also it will be Seller’s Responsibility incase of any Legal Action.
Currently there is No sperate License for these kind of Content, They (Staff) did said that in future they may introduce Separate License for it
Hi, I have been sanctioned for uploading a model of the Peugeot car that K flys in the Blade Runner film. I just took down a Star Wars model as I am assuming that there will be a similar issue with that and I don’t want another sanction. I appealed asking what rule had been broken but did not get an explanation other than that I have not complied with conditions of sale relating to copyright. Both my models have been available for download on Sketchfab for months so the rules on Fab, or the views of their moderators are stricter in relation to copyright.
