One-click, high-quality machine translation for your UE projects — right inside the Localization Dashboard.
Bring DeepL’s best-in-class translations into your Unreal Engine workflow. This Editor-only provider plugs directly into the Localization Dashboard and the “Import from Translation Service” button, adding DeepL’s context, formality, and glossary support, plus smart stale-entry handling, local caching, a progress notification, and a quota test button — no external tools or servers required.
Key Features
Native UE integration: Works from the Translation Dashboard via “Import from Translation Service.”
DeepL context: Optional context string per request to guide ambiguous or short text.
Formality control: Choose Default / More / Less / Prefer More / Prefer Less per DeepL’s API.
Glossary support: Provide a Glossary ID for consistent, brand-safe terminology.
Stale-entry prompt: Detects changed source strings and asks Yes / No / Cancel before re-translating reviewed entries.
Local translation cache: Skips re-sending identical texts (faster, cheaper; stored under Saved/DeepLCache).
Progress feedback: Bottom-right async task notification shows live status while batches are sent to DeepL.
Preserve formatting: Optional DeepL parameter for structured text.
Batching & retry: Configurable batch size, with basic backoff for rate-limit/quota responses.
Usage check: One-click “Test DeepL API & Quota” calls /v2/usage and shows current consumption.
How It Works
Set your DeepL API key and options in Editor Preferences ▸ DeepL Localization.
In the Localization Dashboard, click Import from Translation Service.
If source texts changed since the last archive export, you’ll get a Yes / No / Cancel prompt:
Yes → Re-translate stale entries (overwrites previous reviewed translations).
No → Ignore stale entries; only translate missing ones.
Cancel → Abort to review manually.
The plugin batches requests to DeepL (with context/formality/glossary if set) and shows a progress notification.
Why Use This Plugin
Quality: DeepL consistently strong on natural phrasing; context + glossary improve domain terms.
Speed: Batch translation with local caching avoids duplicate costs and saves time during iteration.
Control: Formality toggles and glossary keep tone and terminology consistent across locales.
Safety: Prompts before overwriting reviewed content; everything stays in your Editor session.
