I am getting a “no valid license error”, so I login to the website and bought 5000 “PPI”. Now I have 5000 PPI and “no valid license”! :( The “my” page says:
| You do not have any valid license. |
| Your current balance is 5000.00 PPI credits. See the Transactions page for more details. |
Downloads Here you can download the latest versions of RealityCapture. The options you can see here depend on the licenses assigned to your account. Click Buy to purchase a new license.
BUT, the “buy” link does not work, there is nothing linking me to the “latest versions” and I have no idea what happened to my old license or why I need to buy PPI and a license???
Ok - I found the 3 month promo license at the bottom of the page, and got a “license”. Once I was able to run the app again, I was informed that there’s a new version with support for the new PPI licensing… (I’m psyched about the new reprojection options!!!) I should have been given an option to download the latest version of the software with “PPI” support without having to buy a new license.
I’m really glad that the old “promo” option is still available. I’m skeptical about PPI: I spend a lot of time tweaking parameters and testing things to get usable outputs. I don’t always know that my outputs will be usable until I can test them in other software. PPI sounds like something that would make sense if Reality Capture were a cloud service, but what I like best about it is that it’s software that runs really well on my own computer!
you are able to download the latest version with PPI enabled on the main page of our website, the orange button Download now. You do not need to be signed in or have a standard license.
“I don’t always know that my outputs will be usable until I can test them in other software.”
Actually, the PPI is the best option for such purpose. You can use the application completely for free, process your data for free and store the projects as well. If you find out that your data are not good, you do not have to spend a dollar on license. However, once you validate the data and you get the good result, you need to buy the licenses for your inputs only when you want to export the results. Moreover, you license the inputs not the result. This means that from that moment, once your inputs are licensed, you can reprocess them as many times as you want and export any results with no extra charge and without a need to purchase a license.
Is the Processing with my own computer slower than the cloud service? And can i process as many Images as I want? Because it was restricted to 2500 Images with the old license…
