No texture showing on model?

Hi! I’m having an issue where on this specific project where the texture that I have generated isn’t showing. It changes the viewport to the ‘sweet’ renderer every time I generate the texture but that’s completely black, and in Solid mode there is no texture.

I am relatively new to photogrammetry so hopefully this is a simple thing to fix.

Thanks to anyone who answers!

Hi CheeseFlavoured,
what kind of source data were used in this project? What will happen if you click on the eye icon next to the texture? If you start this as a new project, will it be the same?
I would recommend not using a lot of control points. They can disrupt the model geometry, which is probably the reason your model turns out black.
Could you also send me a screenshot of your alignment settings, reconstruction settings, unwrap and texturing settings and also Selected info panel, when you select one image?

Thanks for replying!

I used pictures I created from a video (I extracted the images in after effects, not through reality capture)

I clicked on the eye icon and it removed the model from visibility but still shows the image points:

If I started a new project I’m not sure if it would be the same, it took my PC over 6 hours to create the model so I’ve not tried many times, it did go black after adding the automatic control points that I asked it to generate through the ‘detect markers’ function - maybe it was that?

I have used a lot of control points because it helped with the angular parts of the model, other than control points is there another way to get that effect without going to get more images? I’ll try again with less control points

Here are some screenshots of the settings, I have left everything as default when starting the project:

It seems that you clicked on eye icon next to the model, not texture:

Can you try to use Fixed texture size in the Unwrap settings?

You’re right, I’ve pressed the colour layer this time around and it swaps the viewport to sweet and still black unfortunately

I found ‘fixed texel size’ was that what I needed to use? It has created everything in checker style but no material. Is there another step?

It is not necessary to use Fixed style, it depends on the wanted texture. To get checker texture, did you just unwrap the model or also textured it? It seems that you just unwrapped it. You need to also texture the model after unwrap.
Also, you can try to filter your model before texturing by deleting the large triangles. To do so go to Scene 3D tab/Tools/Mesh Model/Advanced/Select Marginal triangles and filter that selection.

I only unwrapped it, in this new screenshot I tried the filter option then textured it. It has gotten rid of a lot of nasty triangles but the texture is still black

Hi,
it seems quite bad.
How do look your input data? I can see that also the capturing is not ideal.
Is it possible to use RealityCapture to create images and then recreate the model?
If you try coloring and not texturing is it working? Also for now, is it possible to delete the scales or keep just few of them and then try to texture it?
What kind of object were you capturing? As you have more than 4000 images and just 900 is aligned there is something wrong with the method of the capturing.
What type of camera have you used?
