No Directional Lighting

I just downloaded UE4 yesterday and was looking at the tutorials and watching some youtube videos and for some reason when I place directional lighting into my scene it doesn’t cast shadows from my static meshes. Please someone help me. I am just about at my whits end. I have used starter content and no starter content and it still won’t work.

Also, I can’t seem to get reflections working. I was watching the level creator video and even in my starter content, there is no reflection on the surface.

Thanks.

Make sure that you build your light. After that your shadows should appear
Also check if you use the “epic” quality settings

I keep seeing this “epic quality settings” but where are they? I have looked everywhere I can think of.
Also, I don’t even get the shading preview words in the model I create.

In the upper bar under the quick settings you can find it.

There is no quick settings. There is regular settings and I can’t find it there either. The only thing I found there that even resembles it is “material quality” or maybe “engine scalability settings.” I can’t find any other quality settings. I am running on 4.7.2, btws.

Scalability settings = quality settings. It’s basically scale all quality parameters according to scalability level you choose

Yep, I mean those settings  -> in the previous version it was called quick settings + quality settings
