Thats a strange one. I dont have that problem.
try this, create a new Niagara system, choose Create Empty System.
you will see a blueprint style area, right click in empty space and left click “Add Emitter”
OR press “e” on the keyboard then choose “Empty” in the list
that will get you started hopefully to use your tutorial
Note: right click in the orange bar at the top of the emitter and left click “create asset from this” will allow you to save the emitter and it will open it for you.
Long winded? A little, but if it works its better than nowt huh?
