Nina - 3rd Person Adventure - Final Project @ Full Sail

The Project is finished so far  Here is the Trailer

https://youtube.com/watch?v=5_1_jcopk40

The Story is about coming back to Life, and Nina, being in a Coma goes through this wonders world, not knowing what happened, hearing voices from afar, affecting her, but not knowing who is speaking to her. The Player needs to activate all the Lights of Hope to open the Gate that brings her back to life.

For my work I mainly concentrate myself on the mechanics and the design, so I will use a lot of assets from what is provided by Epic or Marketplace. I would like to invite everyone who are interested to follow me on Twitch to experience what I am up to.

I will updated my progress here and would love if you would visit my Twitch Stream from time to time or even just hang out to share some stuff about UE4 and the World (which basically is UE4).

Playtest my Game

Since my game is ready for testing I’d like you to find anything you don’t like but also like about the game. I am not trying to over explain what the game is about or what you need to do, since the idea is first how far a Tutorial needs to go and I would like to challenge myself to have as less as possible. There is though, out of requirements a small UI Element that has the Controls described at the bottom. I will update weekly, since my deadlines are always Midnight on Sunday (EST) and will first stream every Tuesday about it.

The game as of today is not complete in terms of level and personally I am interested in improving the mechanics, but also the level design. As of now there is one Puzzle Area accessible.

**Death Mechanic (07.04.2015)

**As discussed on my stream today I am facing the problem that the Puzzles simply can be solved through trial and error and there is no reason what so ever to hold the player back from doing so. Now i quickly built a health system, that essentially the player dies after doing it five times wrong. The Health bar indicates how much tries the Player has left. Death at the moment will just restart the level immediately.

End Game Condition: As of this version, as soon as you get to the first Blue Crystal, it will go back to the Start Screen.

In the second Dev Blog I go over some of the first Prototype Levels problems and design implementation that in the last week didn’t really work out and at the end I shortly describe how I build the Diary with UMG early stage.

Interesting info, keep it up. I also loved your education stream, I hope you can show some of how you use blueprints and c++ together - or a basic bp-> c++ conversion tutorial for an isolated blueprint functionality.

Thanks :). I will definitely see what comes out of the next stream and what people actually like to know. I have in mind to essentially bring some quick shots also, like explaining just UPROPERTY and UFUNCTION. But I will show on the stream c++ and blueprint together, since that is basically my focus. I love the hybrid approach it is incredible gift, but it is also a challenge to balance between what should be code and what should be BP. I will hold in mind your suggestion about the isolated BP function. Maybe I can think of something. See ya than next week

Great progress with the engine Martin! Where’s the programmer art? That looks too good! :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha  Look my Twitter Account states as follows: "Not really a Designer nor Coder nor Artist. " I am something like a Hybrid of nothing (Producer :p)

So the next Update on my redesign which felt the right direction to do. Enjoy

So needed a bit of a change of work and moved to do some of the startscreen with some of the marketplace assets to have some comp fun.

Would love to hear what you think about puzzle games like Q.U.B.E and Portal and what you like about them.
