Nin-MMO Project, Looking for a team [Naruto Fan Project]

Hello @NinMMO,

It’s tough getting Devs interested in a Royalty-based Small Scale Multiplayer FTPS, less alone for a Massive Multiplayer Online Game, even less for a MMO based on existing IP. There has been a team working on a Sword Online MMO for ages, but I fear if ever released it will be sued, fan game or not (all of that effort for nothing, unless reskinned prior to or after the law suit). Devs here are privy to this fact, so you’re recruitment effort will go unanswered. MMOs are huge game development endeavors and no one would want to spend a huge amount of time developing a MMO game world to only have a cease and dismiss issued.

So in short, I would encourage you to scale back, designing a smaller scale multiplayer with intention to scale up the concurrent player count later. If I were you, I would remove MMO and Naruto Fan Game from the title and replace with a generic Super Ninja School Multiplayer or similar. You’re already catching grief about it, these are hints.

I would also warn about letting just any ‘beginners’ in your game dev. Unless you want to spend massive amounts of time tutoring (only for them to not follow your guidance) and BS’ing around in your discord. I would only open the door to Devs who possess the specific skill for the tasks required. If you do keep your open door policy to ‘beginners’ be prepared to work hard finding the outliers who are go-getters, take initiative to learn, and produce results.

You posted some UE4 experience you ‘say’ you have, however, you should be able to easily prove this with links to a portfolio/previous work. For example, I specialize in Blueprints Networking and Construction Systems, here’s my previous work: Multi-user Construction System, Multi-Camera Perspective System, Creature Collage Construct System, Visual File System (UMG), Dimensional Teleportal System, Eye Tracking System. By Trade I’m a Network Engineer and MMO Server Development is of interest to me. I’ve been working with Dartanlla and a few other developers here on Scaleable MMO solutions for UE4.

You did not state you have prior Team Project experience, thus I would assume you do not have any. So, I would encourage you to join a team and apply your skills so you can get a feel of taking task, working them, and communicating progress to the team Lead designers. The following statement would send me running for the hills: ‘I will function as the Lead Designer and I will assign people to their tasks’. That will not fly in this community because everyone is a developer, so the expectation is for the lead to develop too. Another difference between Indie and Corporate game dev.

No matter what direction you go in, I sincerely wish you the best in journey.
