Here 2 hour video showing niagara in 4.18 and how to use it in current state, way more function then it was
Thats weird, no matter what I do, I cannot activate Niagara in 4.18 binary version?
@TriNityGER look into your plugins with the Plugin Browser, thereâs a Niagara Plugin. Make sure to enable it.
Ah thanks, thats new!
@TriNityGER @Raildex_ I have tried enabling the plugin as well as the ini edits in this thread with no success in 4.18. Would you mind giving a list of steps?^^; thanks!
I am using 4.18 and have the plugin enabled for my project, but no Niagara content in the menu. Would someone mind posting and up-to-date how-to enable it?
Niagara is plugin now, just enable plugin
I have 4.18.1, created new project, enabled plugin, restarted and I donât see the niagara options in the Add New. What am I doing wrong?
When you enable the plugin, itâs in the FX category when you right click in the content browser.
I can get all objects created except for Niagara Script - i get an editor crash every time i try to create one of those objects. Is this happening for anyone else?
still not seeing it^^;
This might be a necro, but itâs the most relevant thread I could find:
Source: GDC 2018 - Unreal Engine
Yeah, even such FX noob like me managed to create something with Niagara*. And Cascade still bites me
Cannot figure how to use Niagara Script and material parameters so I could change FX during gameplay. Waiting for GDCâŚ
- You simply have to enable Niagara module in Plugins window and itâs ready to play
Not too long till the GDC Niagara event now, I have already tuned into the livestream. Feels slightly surreal that this moment finally arrived!
Lol we donât know if they are bringing it out of Experimental state or not
Actually, we know. 4.20 will introduce Niagara as the âearly accessâ feature. Possibility to preview partially functional Niagara in 4.19 doesnât count
And then it will a lot of time to develop this new system, bring all the concepts to life.
Niagara looked really great! It will arrive (early access) with 4.20 around June/July.
The presentation was really great. And there were some cool examples in Niagara. As a Houdini user some of the new features looks really great. Niagara will add âattributesâ to your particles that you can use for further manipulation (life, age, size, vel, etc.)
You basically built your own little modules that you can then stack on top of each other.
Another cool thing they showed of was a rbd sim done in Houdini that was exported in a special(?) format and could directly be read into Niagara for further manipulation.
It was a really great presentation in my opinion! The only thing i am hoping for that Epic will provide great docs, or maybe even a lecture series, when it is released. I was expecting something like Houdini by just briefly reading about Niagara before. But Epic has made something of their own. Congratz to that! Looks really strong!
I think that preview we have now is nothing like what Niagara will look like it seems. In todays presentation the UI had nice color coding for the different segments. Hopefully that video will be made available soon.
Was the presentation recorded?
I think its up on Unreal Engines facebook! The whole day, so its across multiple videos!
Really nice - i hope the early access version will be in the previews as well! Really looked nice! They had a bunch of examples there, lightning, explosion emitting smoke from debris, one character doing some transformers/Galvatron type of transformation. It was my understanding that it was all built in Niagara. Very cool for sure!
It does look rather nice The system turns everything into HLSL, and you can include your own chunks and snippets of HLSL within nodes on the graph if you want.
