Newcomer to this world

Hey all,
I’ve recently decided to start trying to make games as a hobby. The problem is, I know little to nothing about design, programming, 3D modeling, etc. I’m a physics major in my undergrad right now so this isn’t exactly my area. I’ve been doing research on the various facets of game design in my (albeit limited) free time. However there is an abundance of information out there, which can be a little overwhelming at first. For all you veterans out there, professionals and hobbyists alike, do you have any advice on where I should start to go about learning to design games? Any pointers and information is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
