Newbie with Unreal 4.8 and Maya2016

Hi all,
UNREAL: I have done various tutorials and blundered my way through building a warehouse with racking etc. but needed to get pallets, roller doors, forklifts.

Maya2016: Again tutorials then had a crack at building simple shipping pallet and partial roller door.

Before I continue with the combo I thought I would try to export the pallet using Maya defaults [Send to Unreal] option.

First attempt I get
Failed to import ‘…/…/…/…/Projects/RackWallsCeiling39/Import/KeviPallet.fbx’. Failed to create asset ‘/Game/KeviPallet’

Second attempt
Fatal error!

Am I using a no win combo of programs or just fat fingering my way deeper into trouble?

If it is just a time and manual thing all is good but no point if it will never match up.

In the FBX export options, change the FBX version to (I think) version FBX 2013
