A new launcher ? Great. Oh wait… what’s this in the announcement post ?

“Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher that’s way faster and more responsive than the current one, and has a new look.”

Programming is hard ? Preferring vibe-coding over thougtful and planned programming ?

Is this REAL ? From a company that develops games and a GAME ENGINE ?

Pull yourself together at once, Epic.

(And on top of that, your “create topic” form is horrendous. Grey black over grey black with pop ups in a small window : NOT GREAT.)

Sidenote: AI/LLM problems aside, “Programming is hard” is not exactly something I want to hear from a company that wants me to enter payment information.

I hope that line is just the community manager being a bit cheeky, but it’s still a very bad look. Epic needs to read the room. I’m normally a fan of Epic and the things they’re aiming to do for the industry, but this is not encouraging.

I devoutly wish this was a joke.

Epic, please know that the chances I am going to knowingly put your vibe-coded AI slop on my computer is precisely zero. Coincidentally, it’s the exact same amount of interest myself or those in my online communities who have discussed such have in your all AI slop Disney shooter game.

I will stay polite, but I find the headfirst, short-sighted, and wholly idiotic plunge into the AI/LLM pool of awfulness absolutely despicable. Please do better.
