New Editor Window (PIE) Lag?

Hi,

So I’ve been dabbling with UE4 over the years, learning the basics, etc.

Upon trying to use the Editor again, I’ve noticed there seems to be something different about the Play In Editor.

In the past I never had issues with it but for some reason whenever I attempt to open a PIE it has a pretty poor framerate … like sub 30 FPS. The PIE window seems to not be getting the proper focus because if I ctrl + escape, minimize the editor, and then re-open the PIE window it functions at full FPS like it’s supposed to.

And no it’s not my computer’s hardware. I’m using a blank project with low settings preset and windows 10 64bit. No other applications are open.

If anyone has experienced this or has any insight into how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

[P.S.] This issue isn’t there when I use the Play in Selected Viewport.

Interesting … yea I too am using a max framerate cap in my Nvidia settings… I’ll try that, thanks for the response.

Yea that makes sense, thanks friend.

yes i’ve experienced this too. You open a seperate PIE window and it’s like half the normal framrate, but then you open the PIE that’s in the main window, you get full framrate.

I noticed this started when I put a max framerate cap on my video card settings.

I just try my best to use the main window PIE

Yea it’s probably splitting the framerate because your main window is still running in the background while your new PIE is running

you could disable it like this if you wanted to.

I tried this for while but i just like having a capped framerate for everything
