In creative, we had 3 tools to help optimize memory, all of which are now gone in UEFN Live edit, would love to have them back as they are extremely valuable:
-
Cost of held prop: In creative, when you hold a prop, there is an interface next to the cursor that tells you how much that prop costs to place, either initial or instance cost memory.
-
In Creative, there was a heatmap that showed the heaviest clusters of memory in the map, so you knew how to space them out and how to lower high memory-dense areas, or you had insight when two clusters meet in the middle, causing a memory spike in that area.
-
Lastly, in Creative we have a red line on the memory bar that shows the highest memory in the entire map, giving insight on how much more we have.
All these three are invaluable to large, open world map creation and in any large project. We need those utilities in UEFN too, even if they only work in live edit. It will change the way we build and help us optimize our maps better.
