Need some guidance for real time terrain deformations please.


I was wondering if someone can share a workflow or some hints as to how to go about creating things like footsteps in snow, as in actually deforming the terrain. I’ve heard that there are some changes made to the new render to texture in the recent releases and I’ve seen the content sample on the blueprint terrain painting. However when i opened the file it has an entirely different approach from the previous methods that are using scene capture component. I’m not even sure if this is the way to go about it.

So what is usually the best approach for something like this?

I’ve been trying to dig up some info everywhere, but most of the info out there are relatively old and before 4.13 and most of them are not that intuitive.
