Need help with weird lighting issue on landscape grass

Hello, I have as strange issue where the grass acts differently depending on where I’m looking, see video:

Is this intended? How can I turn this off?

The grass I downloaded from Quixel Bridge and I’ve tried several different ones now with the same behavior

I can’t give you the final answer, but I can tell you it’s a LOD problem.

The last LOD on the MS grass is pretty awful, and has shadowing problems.

The easy solution is to bin the last LOD, and enable distance fade on the mesh in the material. You can’t have it going all the way to the horizon anyway, otherwise nobody will be able to play the game :wink:

Yes! It worked! It was, as you suggested, at the slight cost of some performance though. But it’s good enough for now, I’ll try to find a better material (or maybe quixel fixes it?) further on in development

It’s been like it forever, actually…

You might be able to make a better distance LOD yourself.
